Pet Wellness Care and Exams
in Easton, MD

At Veterinary Medical Center of Easton, helping your pet stay healthy is how we support the unique bond you share. We know what it means to share life with an animal companion and have them as part of the family. They deserve the most loving care from our team! An important part of that care is the annual wellness exam. Pet exams allow us to establish a health baseline and build a foundation of lifelong, personalized care for your companion. These exams are often accompanied by vaccine boosters, a fecal exam, and blood screenings to check for parasites and other issues.

For a happy, healthy pet, we recommend visiting our clinic

ANNUALLY

to keep up with your pet’s care and discuss any concerns you have.

Why We Recommend Routine Pet Exams

We recommend annual visits for healthy adult dogs, cats, and exotic pets so we can stay one step ahead of any potential health issues and treat any emerging problems right away. If your pet is a senior and/or has a chronic health condition, we may recommend a wellness exam every 6 months to check in with them. Animals tend not to show when they are sick or hurt, so it’s important for us to perform a thorough exam to see if there are any problems.

What We Offer to Keep Your Four-Legged Family Member Healthy

Below are some of the most important services our vet team can provide to support your pet and help them should they ever become sick or injured.

This exam involves a nose-to-tail physical where we check all your pet’s vital signs and assess their eyes, ears, teeth, gums, and overall outward appearance for anything abnormal. Our team is trained to notice subtle changes in appearance or behavior in pets, which is critical if an underlying health issue happens to be present.

A key part of your pet’s annual exam is lab work. This often includes a fecal exam and various blood tests, including heartworm and tick-borne disease testing. Lab work allows us to establish baseline values to guide future exams and treatments and can help us monitor and track health changes over time. Our goal is to be proactive, not reactive when it comes to caring for your pet.

Veterinary Medical Center of Easton has an intensive care ward where we can monitor your pet and provide the best critical or emergency care possible. We hope your pet never needs to stay in the ICU, but should they need us, we can provide:

  • Access to on-site diagnostic testing equipment
  • Pain management
  • IV fluids
  • Cardiovascular monitoring
  • Nutritional support
  • Blood and plasma transfusion
  • Oxygen therapy

Our hospital also uses sophisticated medical equipment for diagnosing all manner of diseases and other medical issues and exploring treatment plans best suited to your pet’s needs. We can cover all areas of internal medicine, including:

  • Cardiology (heart failure, hypertension)
  • Ophthalmology (eye conditions)
  • Neurology (stroke, paralysis, disc disease)
  • Dermatology (allergies, skin disorders, ear infections)
  • Gastroenterology
  • Endocrinology (diabetes, thyroid disturbances)
  • Critical care/urgent care

Our veterinarians and staff can monitor your pet if they are diagnosed with a chronic condition such as heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, or thyroid disease. We can help to manage your pet’s symptoms and keep their condition under control so they can maintain a better quality of life. Their treatment plan may include diet recommendations, changes in medication, supplements, and more.

Whether your pet is visiting us for wellness care or treatment for a possible illness, a major aspect of helping you both involves education. Our team is passionate about helping pet owners better understand their pets’ conditions and the “what” and “why” of their treatment recommendations.

Veterinary Medical Center offers at-home pet wellness care. This is ideal for pet owners who cannot transport their pets to our clinic. We can come to your home by appointment and perform a wellness exam, vaccinations, and nutritional counseling. We can also provide your pet with flea and tick prevention.
