Acupuncture for Horses
Dr. Callahan performs equine acupuncture for Veterinary Medical Center. Equine acupuncture has been used on horses for many years. Acupuncture can be used, and is effective, in a variety of equine conditions, including:
• Lameness
• Tendon/ligament issues
• Post-surgical rehabilitation
• Reproductive problems
• Pain relief, back pain relief
• Chronic conditions, skin conditions, allergies
• Non-surgical colic
Acupuncture is performed through the insertion of tiny, sterile needles into the body at specific points. Once the needles are place it is common for horses to begin to drop their heads in relaxation. At times, horses fall asleep during their treatment.
When performed by a specially trained veterinarian such as Dr. Callahan, acupuncture is very safe and has very little side effects. The number of treatments vary based on the needs of the horse.
Please call us today if you would like us to evaluate your horse for acupuncture treatments.
