Autumn Gillespie is a mixed animal veterinarian who started with VMC in the summer of 2016. Autumn was born and raised in the cornfields of Central Illinois and, upon graduation, wanted to explore a new place to call home. She fell in love with the Eastern Shore and the community. She attended the University of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine for veterinary school and graduated in the spring of 2016. During her undergraduate years, she worked two part time jobs; veterinary assistant and auction house clerk, all while taking care of her two horses.
Autumn has a special interest and passion in integrative, sport dog, and rehabilitation medicine. She plans on achieving her accreditation in animal acupuncture for all species in the fall of 2016 through Colorado State University and, in the spring of 2017, she will become certified in veterinary chiropractic medicine for all species though the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Wisconsin.
Autumn has a passion towards all loving creatures. She currently has 4 fur-babies: Two cats named Miss Kitty and Thomas O’Malley (from the Disney Aristocrats film.) Olive, the love of her life, is her 8 year old, long haired German shepherd dog. She got Olive when she started her first year of college and has been with her throughout many moves and life changes. She describes Olive as one of the best dogs anyone could ask for, but sometimes is just too smart for her own good. Olive is trained and performed in AKC agility, rally, and obedience trials. Olive has been to Chicago, South Padre, San Antonia, and New Orleans to just name a few travels. Her largest, but not least, fur-kid is Sugar, a pure white 25 year old Tennessee Walking Horse. Sugar was her first horse and is in her happy retirement home at Autumn’s parents’ in Illinois.
Autumn loves driving to different barns and meeting new clients and their critters. During her free time she loves to work with her dog in AKC trials, go kayaking and, of course, go horseback riding.
