Dr. Autumn Gillespie is a mixed animal veterinarian who started with VMC in the summer of 2016. Autumn was born and raised in the cornfields of Central Illinois and, upon graduation, wanted to explore a new place to call home. She fell in love with the Eastern Shore and the community. She attended the University of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine for veterinary school and graduated in the spring of 2016. During her undergraduate years, she worked two part time jobs; veterinary assistant and auction house clerk, all while taking care of her two horses.
Autumn has a special interest and passion in integrative, sport dog, and rehabilitation medicine. She became certified in veterinary spinal manipulation therapy, also known as chiropractic care, for all species through the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Wisconsin in the spring of 2017. She plans on achieving her accreditation in animal acupuncture for all species in the fall of 2019 through Colorado State University.
Autumn has a passion towards all living creatures. She currently has 5 fur-babies: Two cats; Miss Kitty and Thomas O’Malley (from the Disney Aristocrats film). A Russell terrier named Stanley, and Olive, the love of her life, is her 8 year old, long haired German shepherd dog. She got Olive when she started her first year of college and has been with her throughout many moves and life changes. Her largest, but not least, fur-kid is Sugar, a pure white 25 year old Tennessee Walking Horse. Sugar was her first horse and is in her happy retirement home at Autumn’s parents’ in Illinois.
Autumn loves driving to different barns and meeting new clients and their critters. During her free time she loves to work out in the garden, restore antique furniture and, of course, go horseback riding.
