 The Veterinary Medical Center has both a board certified large animal internist and a board certified equine practitioner on staff.
Another doctor has completed an internship in large animal medicine.
This level of medical expertise is unmatched in the Delmarva region. We have 3 fully equipped mobile units to perform farm calls, or you may bring your horse to our hospital in Easton. |

We are pleased to be able to offer the following services to our clients in the mid-Delmarva region:
Acupuncture
Dr Callahan is a graduate of the IVAS course in veterinary acupuncture. She is available for acupuncture of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal and medical conditions.
Digital Radiography
Computerized radiology is available both on your farm and in the main hospital. Digital CD's of your radiographic images can be made. Access to national specialists can be achieved through our affiliation with Eklin systems.
Emergency Farm Service
We offer 24 hour, 7 day a week emergency service to our clients. This includes , but is not limited to, treatment for colic, lacerations, reproductive emergencies, trauma and medical emergencies.
Lameness Examinations
We perform lameness diagnosis and evaluation. This includes procedures such as diagnostic nerve blocks, ultrasound and digital radiographs.
Medical Services
We offer a wide range of diagnostic procedures, such as transtracheal aspirates, abdominocentesis and the placement of ocular catheters.
Neonatal Services
Examinations and treatments of neonatal foals are an interest of the doctors. We offer farm side IgG testing, and routine neonatal care.
Nutritional Analysis
We can perform hay and grain analysis, as well as develop a nutritional program to fit the needs of your horses, whether they are broodmares, foals, geriatrics or performance horses.
Prepurchase Examinations
Full prepurchase examinations are available at your farm, and can include digital radiographs, drug testing and evaluation for breeding soundness.
Reproductive Services
We offer a full spectrum of reproductive services, including breeding with fresh or frozen semen, reproductive examinations, and pregnancy diagnosis. In conjunction with Harris Paints, we also offer embryo transfer services.
Routine Health Care
This includes both wellness and sick visits. We offer vaccination and deworming programs tailored to your horses and situation, and management advice to help you properly care for your horses.
Ultrasound
Both reproductive and tendon ultrasonography are available at your farm or the hospital.

Acupuncture
In order to provide our patients with complementary options, acupuncture is available. We can use this to provide relief for a number of both medical and orthopedic problems.
Dentistry
We offer routine scaling and polishing of teeth, as well as extractions, gingival flaps and surgical removal of oral lesions and growths.
Digital Radiography
We have a state of the art digital radiographic system which allows us to take high quality radiographs and process them immediately. We are able to store these images , copy them to a CD, or transmit them via the Internet for specialists to view.
Emergency Service
24 hour, 7 day a week emergency service is available to our clients and their pets.
Home or Kennel Service
We also offer scheduled routine visits to your home or kennel.
In house Laboratory Testing
We have the capability to run most blood samples in our hospital, giving us information about our patients immediately and allowing us to diagnose and treat quickly.
Laser Surgery
We have a CO2 laser, which allows us to offer different surgical options for our patients. The laser allows us to perform surgery with minimal blood loss and less pain. It is offered as an option for most routine surgeries.
Microchip Insertion
This service allows quick tracking of a lost pet and is a permanent form of ID. We can perform this as an outpatient visit. Our microchips are ISO certified and can be read worldwide.
OFA Digital Submission
Digital images can be sent directly to The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, allowing a quick turn around for results.
Orthopedic Surgery and Soft Tissue Surgery
The doctors of the Veterinary Medical Center offer a wide range of surgical procedures from neuters and ovariohysterectomies, to complex orthopedic repairs. We perform surgery 4 days a week in our specially designated surgical suite.
Reproductive Services
Collection and artificial insemination with both fresh and frozen semen is available, including surgical insemination. We also offer semen analysis.
Routine health care
We offer both well and sick animal care for companion animals and pocket pets. This includes vaccination, new pet counseling, heartworm and feline leukemia testing, vaccine titers, and fecal examinations. We also offer nutritional and behavior counseling.
Ultrasound
Our 2 ultrasound units allow us to visualize and diagnose certain abdominal problems and also enable us to do early pregnancy diagnosis.
Video Endoscopy
We have a full color video endoscope and can perform such procedures as colonoscopy and gastroscopy. | |
